The idea of Simple Traditions was conceived in 1995 by two young women who were determined to provide a service to people
experiencing a loss. Nancy Linn and Maria Paluch met while working together at a large, well known funeral organization. Both
women were uncomfortable with the requirement to sell merchandise and services to families that either didn’t need them, or,
couldn’t afford them. Thus, the Simple Traditions concept was born.
With not much more than their funeral licenses and experience in the industry, the two women embarked on a journey together to
build a company that focused on individual attention without high pressure sales. They both firmly believe that the funeral
industry should be service oriented, not, profit driven.
Building Simple Traditions has not been easy. There have been times when giving up was a very real and appealing option.
However, Nancy and Maria believed so strongly in the philosophy of their company that they persevered. Today, they continue their
commitment to helping those experiencing a loss with compassion and warmth.
"…at 16 I lost my mother to breast cancer. When I was 25 my brother and niece were killed in a tragic accident.
I was 30 when my father was taken by cancer. During those times, it was impossible for me to see how anything positive could
come from the sorrow and pain I was feeling. I now see that my personal experiences with loss gives me the ability to understand
and empathize with those going through the same." Maria Paluch, Owner.
"…I am so proud of our company. It gives me a feeling of satisfaction to honestly help those that are in need.
I know that I am doing exactly what I am suppose to be doing. Our philosophy is simple. Treat others with the same consideration
and respect that you wish to be treated." Nancy Linn, Owner.
